Duties and responsibilities
- Prepares letters, briefing notes and investigation reports in line with Commission standards containing sustainable recommendations.
- Prepares investigation plans, collects witness statements, issues demand notices, executes search warrants etc. and conducts records of interview with businesses or persons of interest.
- Prepares briefs of evidence as required for consideration by the Commission for use in prosecutions in a Court of Law, if necessary.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with business operators, internal and external stakeholders.
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct, acts with integrity and behaves in an honest, professional and ethical way.
- Demonstrated ability to identify potential breaches of legislation through analysing and comparing information from a complaint to the law.
- Demonstrated abilities to methodically collect information and evidence in accordance with the principles of natural justice and fairness, in compliance with the law and in a manner admissible in legal proceedings.
Qualifications, experience and competencies
- Minimum is a Higher National Diploma in Economics; Law, Police and Security Studies, Business-related field or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years’ experience involving enforcement of consumer infringement
- A record of success in previous jobs involving enforcement of compliance with laws and regulations
- Demonstrable proficiency in computer applications
- Self-starter with ability to work under pressure and beyond stipulated hours.
- Unquestionable integrity and commitment to duty.
- Good analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results oriented
