CONSUMERS RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (SECTION 9 – 51)

Rights

● Right to consumer education and awareness;
● Right to fair value, good quality and safety of gods and services;
● Right to choose and choice of goods or services;
● Right to information;
● Right to be heard, representations and redress; and
● Right to fair contractual agreements.

Responsibilities

● Ask questions;
● Respect the environment;
● Unanimity;
● Cautiousness; and
● Critical awareness.

SUPPLIERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES (SECTION 51)

● Take necessary and appropriate measures to provide fair value, good quality and safe products to consumers;
● Provide warranty on all goods or services;
● Ensure that all supplied goods or services are delivered on the agreed date at the agreed time;
● Allow consumers reasonable opportunity to examine all supplied goods so as to ascertain that they are of the type and quality reasonably contemplated in their agreement;
● Not offer to supply, or enter into an agreement to supply any goods or services at unfair, unreasonable and unjust prices and terms;
● Not enter or attempt to enter into any transactions or agreements whose general purpose or effect is to mislead or deceive the consumer; or subject the consumer to fraudulent conduct;
● Co-operate with the Government or local authorities in the execution of policies relating to consumer protection;
● Not engage in any unfair trade practices;
