
Designation of Consumer Protection Organisation
- In line with the section 55 of the Consumer Protection Act, organisations that want to operate as Consumer Protection Organisations (CPO) must apply to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce through the Commission to be designated as such.
- Once the application is received and the Commission is satisfied that the Organisation meet all the criteria to be registered as a CPO, the Minister, shall, by Statutory Instrument, designate such organisations to be a Consumer Protection Organisation for purposes of conducting conciliation and arbitration of disputes between parties. The application criteria is going to advertised by the Commission. The Commission will soon be calling for applications.
