Duties and responsibilities
- Conducting physical inspections of businesses on a routine basis or where there is reasonable suspicion of infringements of consumer rights;
- Explain the purpose of the inspections and outline areas that may be of specific concern pertaining consumer rights;
- Collect information to evaluate whether the business is in compliance and write reports on details of the inspection;
- Examine information which may be relevant to the inspection and enforcement of consumer rights;
- Produce materials (e.g., records, receipts) the inspectors believe may be relevant to the inspection processes;
- Issue fines where there is evidence of infringement of consumer rights.
Qualifications, experience and competencies
- Minimum is a Higher National diploma or degree in Economics; Law, Police and Security Studies or Business related field or equivalent from a recognized institution;
- At least 5 years’ experience involving investigation of economic crimes or consumer Infringements;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- Self-starter with ability to work under pressure and beyond stipulated hours.
- Unquestinable integrity and commitment to duty.
- Good analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results oriented
- Good report writing
